Please note that since this article appeared, we have replaced the incinerating toilet with composting units in all the houseboats and banished the ants, hopefully. We think the composting units are a major improvement, but -- word to the squeamish -- they are not conventional flush toilets. We think we have banished the ants. And the hot water still leaves a lot to be desired. So, if having a crummy shower experience will ruin your day, this is probably not the place for you.
